Add these to your workout training split! In my opinion, I find using the cable machine can make the exercises harder than using a free weight like dumbbells or a barbell, because the cable has that constant resistance, therefore focusing more on the effort needed for the exercise, idk🤷🏽‍♀️

Not my day today. At work, I was confronted with some new tasks, and I felt like I couldn't handle it all. Later when I was running errands, I tried to find something in my handbag; when I couldn't find it, I almost freaked out - everything until then was just too overwhelming, I simply couldn't control my emotions anymore. I already shared my weight / muscle gain journey before, but for my new followers.. Allow me talk about it from the start again. Since a few years ago 🦄🌙 I've always been the chubby girl all my life. Teased during class, mocked. All that bullying, yes, bullying ended up making me want to change. And I did. I started to run, eat better, signed up in a gym and at first everything was good.. Until it went too far. 🐾 I started to eat less and less, obsessed with getting under 50KG. Which I did by restricting to the max, and overworking out, only doing cardio and a little weigh. But when I reached that weight.. I was already so far pushed into my limits, my ED did a total 180 and I started to binge. Binge over binges over binges, and I gained back almost all the weight. And it took me about 2 years to stabilise and get to the point in which I am now 😋💕 I'm still struggling sometimes, and I'm still fighting my old demons. But I'm much better than before, and I need to remember that. I'm now a fitness instructor, helping others to reach their goals. I'm an instagramer sharing a message. I'm an awkward teen, trying to be happy. I'm strong, and working to get even stronger, faster, more athletic. 💪🏻💗 No matter my weight or size. So yeah just remember.. If you're struggling, you're not alone. You got this ♡

I'm sure many girls can relate - when you first join a gym and all your comfortable with doing is cardio and a couple of leg machines? That was me for a good few months when I first joined my university gym. To scared to even do something upper-body related, let alone touch a dumbbell.. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Although it's a physical transformation, the knowledge between these two photos vary greatly! I had 0 idea, I didn't understand the difference between cardio or weights, I automatically thought weights equalled bulky and cardio equalled toned, how wrong I was! 🤦🏽‍♀️

Upper body is now something I ❤️ to train, shoulders being one of my favourites. I am currently training upper body between 2-3 times a week! 🙌🏼
🚨 HONESTY POST 🚨

After spending the weekend high as a kite on happiness after the show and feeling like I could conquer the world, I spent last night and this morning weighing up the pros and cons of continuing my prep to the British finals, and ive decided not to continue.

You might read this and think 'it's only six weeks come on your can do it' - if you're thinking that then you're one of the reasons I was forcing myself to continue. I've felt pressures by social media to carry on, when the truth is my heart isn't in it. I spent the last six weeks of my prep wishing for it to be over, loving the transformation but hating the sacrifices I had to make to get the physique that I had for stage.

My husband is in the navy and due a draft, that makes my time with him precious. It's an expensive hobby. It's an unhealthy hobby to do for a long time and my body is exhausted. I've loved the journey and I'm sure I will compete next year when I've planned my competitions better, I loved show day and the people are amazing - but for now, I need to reassess my priorities, reverse diet out carefully and find my love for lifting again ❤️💪🏻

I was looking back through my photos and found some old ones which really highlight the progress i am making, and also the truth that you don't get abs by restricting and doing cardio

I always thought i had to kill myself doing cardio and barely eat in order to be thin and have abs

Such a shame it took me so long to see that this is far from the case. I did not need to damage my body through restriction, which in time ultimately caused binging due to my body screaming out for energy and nutrients

If only someone had told me years ago that i needed to be eating MORE to gain abs, as well as DROP cardio and pick up the HEAVY weights

I truly feel blessed to have found my way to lifting weights as i now love it so much and i love the feeling of being stronger than i have ever been

I also love the way lifting as well as focusing on eating to grow has finally given me a healthy relationship with food, which is something i never thought was even possible let alone achievable for me
💜
After dropping cardio and switching it for heavy weights, and actually fuelling my body, for the first time i have visible ab and thigh definition! And i am at my strongest

So girls and guys, you know what you have to do to gain muscle, despite what we have previously been told about cardio. Ignore it and go for the weights every time, and see what the difference is for you💪🏻

It is always better to drop the weight if your form isn't perfect as there is risk of forming bad habits and causing injury.

MY TOP TIPS 🤓

1️⃣Get a PT to look at your squat form! In the bottom photo, my squat looks good in a picture, but @chris_duo_chelsea still found things to tweak and improve on! .
2️⃣ Squat regularly (but not too much) to get your body used to the movement. Practice makes perfect!

3️⃣Mobilise! PLEASE do this. I do a lot of mobility work, it's just not that glamorous and doesn't get posted around on Instagram the same way a heavy lift does!
