it haunts me at times, the mirror. the past. the girl who loved to dig her fingers into her collar bone just to feel what it was like to be breakable, fragile, skinny. the girl who wore baggy clothes to hide the fact that her rib cage stuck out so far that you could count every bone. the girl who only fed the lies in her head & not her stomach. & i am still that girl, the reflection in the mirror. & it's a daily struggle to appreciate my body rather than shame it. to say "i am enough" rather than not eat enough. recovery is not an end or the finale of a movie, it's a daily success & a constant effort. & so today i appreciate my body. i appreciate that i don't go to the gym to for hours on an empty stomach but rather to be heathy & happy in my skin. to be fit & not bones. i appreciate the love i have from my friends & my family. i appreciate that when i am slipping into my thoughts, i am growing strong enough to fight them. everyday is recovery. & everyday is me standing in front of that mirror saying to that girl, "you are strong, you are gorgeous, you are worth love just the way you are." #loveyourself #vulnerablepost #beforeandafter #fitnotskinny #everydaystruggle #recoveryjourney #hiddensecrets #bootygainz

I made mistakes many times during this process. I didn't grasp that always being in a calorie deficit was slowing down my metabolism & that doing daily cardio compounded the issue. If I run every day & give my body fewer calories eventually my body is going to adapt & slow down my metabolism to conserve. That's what bodies do, they adapt to stressors. Sometimes the adaptation is unfavorable.
I had a very harsh awakening one day when I realized I HAD TO run & be in a deficit in order to maintain my weight. Fluctuation city! I had an even harsher awakening when my body no longer responded even to that.
Not only had my metabolism slowed down but my body didn't like the lack of fat & excessive carbs in my diet. We are told to eat low-fat & that grains are "healthy" but fats are ESSENTIAL (especially in hormone regulation which is a big player in fat storage) & no one way of eating is good for everyone. Switching to higher fat & lower carb was life changing. My period regulated, I felt fuller longer, and I didn't have the dips in energy thanks to blood sugar staying low. I also started to undulate my calories. Sometimes I was in a calorie deficit, sometimes a surplus, and sometimes a maintenance. Remember, your body adapts so try not to stay in any one of these for too long.
The next paradigm shift was switching to resistance training. Ladies and gentlemen, if you want a faster metabolism ASK FOR IT. You do this by giving your body conditions that require it to be stronger. You lift heavy weight & the body says "looks like its time to get stronger. I'll build muscle to adapt". Muscle is an expensive tissue & requires the metabolism to speed up accordingly.
Don't be like me. Do it right the first time. If you have already damaged your metabolism reverse out of things slowly to avoid rebounding #girlswholift #guyswholift #cardioworkout #wellness #fattofit #beforeandafter #weightloss #weightlossjourney #health #wellness

#transformationtuesday 😅😬 ________________________________________________________I have so many transformation pictures of me, I wanted to post them ALL at once, but I realized I never even posted A transformation picture on my account yet, so here's ONE. The picture on the left was taken last summer believe it or not🤔, I have worked my ASS off with pain sweat and tears to get to that transformation picture on the right (which was taken just 2weeks ago) 💪🏼💦! I didn't just do this change to get to a certain body frame goal of mine, it was to also grow my mindset for the positive and healthy living. You'd think your body would be the only thing changing when getting into the fitness industry, but your WHOLE mind, attitude and maturity level improves so much 😆❤️! This is ONE of my transformations...
my story still needs to be told on why I started fitness, but that's to be shared next time😌😉! One thing I learned was to find your OWN motivation in order to KEEP GOING and to START, watching motivational videos and reading other peoples change is inspiring YES. But from experience what keeps me going is my own personal motivation I found along the way. So whoever out there feels like it isn't possible to get a drastic change in YOU, let me just SHOW you and not TELL you..that it really is POSSIBLE. Just GET up and GO DO🏃🏽♀️✅! It may not be easy to get where you wanna get, that's where the fighting to get what YOU want comes in! Long story short, one thing that I know is easy and is all in OUR minds telling us it's not, the first step to start to making change in your life is to just get up...GET UP and start NOW, weather it's fitness related or NOT❗️😇 ________________________________________________________ #transformation #weightlosstransformation #bodybuilding #girlswholift #fitgirls #fitnessmotivation #fitnessinspiration #fitgirl #gymrat #gymmotivation #justdoit #makeachange #inspiration #hatdwork #hardworker #hardworkpaysoff #squats #bodybuildingmotivation #firgirlsguide #fitchicks #fitnessmodel #beforeandafter
